The bottle is beautiful and the taste is supreme. This 2013 Checkmate wine from the Summers Estate Winery in Napa Valley, California is a top-of-the-line wine that any wine afficionado can enjoy. Hailing from the world famous Napa Valley, this is a handcrafted vintage from Ignacio Blancas himself.
The taste can best be described as containing cocoa and black currant. Other flavors to note are roasted coffee, deep ripe fruit, dark cherries, cassis, plum, a hint of vanilla and spice, and a dark chocolate after taste. Tannins are rich but soft and the French Oak aged barrels leave for a sweet mouth after drinking.
The wine is a deep ruby and purplish color with a rich and complex aroma. The flavor is full-bodied, round, balanced well and richly flavored. The Varietal is ultimately Cabernet Sauvignon, with the composition being made up of 4% Petit Verdot, 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Merlot.
Alcohol by Volume comes out to 14.2% and the wine is aged for 22 months in new French Oak barrels. Only 150 cases have been produced overall, so make sure to pick this bottle up and hold onto it for the long haul. This wine will only get better with time!
