A Red Blend from the Saint-Emilion region of Bordeaux, France. The 2012 Chateau Ausone has a very mineral like taste due to the presence of limestone in the terroir. It is a full body wine with a rich taste that is never too heavy. Tannins are ripe and numerous and the wine emanates a strong aroma of black, red and blue fruits, floral scents and licorice. From the beginning this blend was cultivated for the long haul, it will only improve with age.
The Chateau Ausone has a long and storied history, which you can read more about over at The Wine Cellar Insider, which did a fantastic article detailing the origins of the Ausone name leading back to the Roman poet Ausonious in the 4th century. At the lower portion of the Chateau Ausone estate, old Roman villa ruins can be found. “La Villa du Palat” is a true treasure of the winemaking world.
This is a fantastic Bordeaux Red Blend that would go well with anybody’s collection.
